OverviewSENSHU SHOOT-OUT

SENSHU SHOOT-OUT was created in 2023 by Shihan Senthil Thiyagarajan (Founder of ITKL & Champion Karate Academy) as a tie-breaker solution based on sudden death to resolve the tie between the teams. This method was successfully introduced and applied in ITKL 2023 (International Team Karate League) which was held on April 23 at Ranchview High School, Irving, Texas, USA.

First Uncontested Score Advantage (SENSHU)

SENSHU is understood that one Competitor has achieved the first instance of scoring on the opponent without having the opponent also score before the signal. In instances where both Competitors score before the signal, and there is indication of score by two judges for each of the two Competitors, no ‘first unopposed score advantage’ is awarded and both Competitors retain the possibility of SENSHU later in the bout.

ITKL Operation

-> 1 Minute match until the first unopposed score - Senshu
-> 1 Senshu Point for each win
-> All 3 or 5 athletes must fight, unless a team leads 2-0 or 3-0 respectively
-> Winning team qualifies to the finals
-> In case of tie, both teams pick the best athlete to fight until the first unopposed score to determine the “Senshu Shootout Winner”
